SDG3 SDG4 SDG11

In accordance with the Memorandum from the Director No. 061, Series of 2026, and RDRRMC Memorandum No. 001, Series of 2026, Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC) actively participated in the CY 2026 Quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 12, 2026 (Thursday) at exactly 3:30 in the afternoon.

The nationwide activity aims to strengthen disaster preparedness and enhance safety awareness among institutions, communities, and organizations nationwide. Through regular drills, participants can practice appropriate response procedures during earthquakes and develop a culture of readiness and resilience.

Before the drill, all Deans of Colleges, faculty members, and administrative staff were advised to ensure full student participation and proper guidance. Faculty members with ongoing classes during the scheduled drill supervised their students and ensured that the standard earthquake response protocol, particularly the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, was properly followed.

During the simulation, students were immediately instructed to remain calm and take protective action by positioning themselves under sturdy desks or tables while protecting their heads and necks. Once the simulated shaking stopped, faculty members led the students in an orderly evacuation along the designated routes, directing them to their assigned assembly areas. A headcount was then conducted to ensure that all students were accounted for before waiting for the “All Clear” signal.

The drill provided an important opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to practice coordinated emergency response and reinforce the importance of preparedness in the event of a real earthquake. The active participation of the academic community demonstrated the institution’s collective commitment to safety and disaster risk reduction.

Through initiatives such as the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, Iligan Medical Center College continues to uphold its dedication to building a safe, prepared, and resilient academic environment. By equipping community members with the knowledge and skills needed during emergencies, IMCC reinforces the principle that preparedness saves lives and that safety is a shared responsibility.
