PHILOSOPHY

MISSION

To produce globally competitive professionals who possess scientific knowledge in crime detection, investigation, and prevention necessary to respond the public needs in terms of crime control for the maintenance of peace and order.

GOAL/GENERAL OBJECTIVE

Acknowledging God as the almighty creator and the source of everything for everyone’s survival, the College of Criminology envision to educate the students to become knowledgeable, highly proficient and competent law enforcers public safety practitioners globally for the attainment of its vision and mission.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The program aims to:

  1. Encourage research and inquiry on the nature, causes, treatment or punishment of criminal behavior and how criminal justice agencies function and respond to crime, criminals and victims.
  2. Prepare the students for careers in crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime detection and correctional administration, public safety and allied fields.
  3. Foster the values of leadership, integrity, accountability and responsibility while serving their fellowmen, community and country.

FOUNDATION

The annual recruitment for qualified personnel in the PNP organization and other law enforcement agencies   nationwide, and the need to produce knowledgeable, skillful and highly qualified men in the implementation of laws prompted the forerunners of Iligan Medical Center College to open the BS-Criminology Course. The College of Criminology was established in SY 2000-2001 under the presidency of Dr. Melchor B. Picardal, M.D.

                At present, Iligan Medical Center College has able to produce ample numbers of law enforcers within the region and other regions in the country.

Elements of the Logo

1. Sword– the sword represents a sharp-edged police force. It enforces laws forcefully but justly.
2. Libra– weighing scale represents due process. The decision is made after examining the preponderance of the evidences submitted by both parties in a criminal proceeding.
3. Book– represents knowledge. Nothing can deliver us from false accusations but the knowledge of truth. Thus, the text, “The Truth Will Set US Free” is emphasized.
4. Microscope– represent scientific inquiry and dynamism.
5. Five Pillars of Criminal Justice System– denote the study and emphasis of justice.
6. Laurel leaves– in history, laurel leaves were used by the ancient Greeks to crown victors in the Pythian Games. It denote victory and honor.
