IMCC Activates National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC)

A United Call to Bolster Community Disaster Preparedness

Iligan City, August 8, 2025 — In a landmark move to fortify community resilience, Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC) officially activated its National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) during a ceremony held at the IMCC Audio-Visual Room (AVR) at 9:00 AM. The event marked a significant step in IMCC’s mission to promote civic responsibility and disaster preparedness among its academic community.

The School-based NSRC, composed of trained volunteers from IMCC who completed the NSTP Course  is designed to support national and local government efforts in disaster response, rehabilitation, and community development. IMCC’s activation of the corps signals its commitment to transforming students and personnel into empowered agents of change.

A Convergence of Leaders and Advocates

The ceremony brought together key figures in disaster risk reduction and public safety. Regional Director Antonio B. Sugarol, Regional Director of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 10, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in national service:

Also present were Ms. Armien P. Alorro of the City Mayor’s Office–Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CMO-ICDRRMO) and Mr. Cris Macapayag, Focal Person of Task Force Iligan / Public Safety and Security Command Center. Both officials praised IMCC’s initiative and pledged continued support for collaborative training and mobilization efforts.

🌱 Looking Ahead: Training and Mobilization

Following the activation, IMCC plans to roll out a series of capacity-building programs, including:

  • Basic Life Support and First Aid Training
  • Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Workshops
  • Simulation Drills and Emergency Response Exercises
  • Volunteer Deployment in Local Disaster Operations

These initiatives aim to ensure that NSRC members are not only willing but fully equipped to respond to real-world challenges.

IMCC’s NSRC activation is a rallying call for student volunteers to embrace their role in nation-building. As the climate crisis and other risks continue to test community resilience, IMCC stands ready—with knowledge, compassion, and action.
