SDG4 SDG9 SDG8 SDG17

Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC) conducted a whole day seminar-workshop on TOS Design and Test Item Construction with AI Integration on December 6, 2025 (Saturday), from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the IMCC Review Center, Iligan City. The activity gathered 40 faculty members and their deans from programs with licensure examinations, namely Nursing, Midwifery, Radiologic Technology, Medical Technology, Education, Criminology, and Social Work.

The seminar-workshop aimed to strengthen the assessment literacy of IMCC faculty by enhancing their competence in preparing valid and reliable Tables of Specifications (TOS) and constructing high quality test items. It also introduced practical and responsible ways of integrating artificial intelligence tools to support test development, test analysis, and item refinement without compromising academic integrity and quality standards.

Serving as resource speaker was Dr. Derren N. Gaylo, Head of the Center for Educational Analytics of Bukidnon State University, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Dr. Gaylo discussed principles of outcomes-based assessment, alignment of learning outcomes with test items, item difficulty and discrimination, as well as examples of AI supported workflows for drafting, screening, and reviewing test questions.

As an expected output, participants were required to produce a complete TOS and a corresponding set of test items for one of their board-related courses. These outputs will undergo departmental review and are intended for use in future formative and summative assessments, contributing to more coherent and evidence based evaluation of student learning.

The workshop was jointly facilitated by the Office of the Dean for Academic Affairs and the Human Resources Department. The activity forms part of the continuing efforts of IMCC to improve assessment practices across programs and to align instruction and evaluation with the institution’s goal of maintaining strong performance in national board examinations.
